Kirtan – singing from the heart

29th October 2017 7:00 pm - 29th October 2017 8:30 pm

Kirtan! Singing from the heart!

Creating positive energy through joyful sound.
We sing or chant mantra to simple melodies in a repetitive, call and response style.
No musical or singing experience is needed, as you follow the leader simple by repeating the mantra phrase by phrase, supported by the harmonium.
Through music we can express inexpressible, through mantra we can explore and call in the energies that we want in our lives.

The sounds vibrate and create the resonance with us, so we tune up and come into harmony with ourselves. As we sing together we hear our own voices become a part of the bigger, unified sound.
after the singing, the silence can be profoundly peaceful.

Eleanor sings the mix of chants and mantras from different traditions. These may be in Sanskrit, English or occasionally, other languages. She has spent some years exploring the potential of the human voice for self transformation and has trained in a Lifemusic approach, which opens the world of music making to everyone. Eleanor has sung Kirtan with many different ‘Kirtan wallah’ in the UK and is very excited to be sharing Kirtan with the Soul Happy tribe.

“Chanting effortlessly quiets the mind and opens the heart, bringing a feeling of deep inner peace in the silence that it generates”. [Tim Chalice}
