Yoga Nidra is also known as ‘Yogic Sleep’. This is a very deep form of relaxation that enables you to kick in the Parasympathetic system of the body. It affects the brain waves – balancing the right and left side of the brain.

In the process, your brain shifts from a Beta state which is an awakened state, with lots of activity to alpha, delta and then Theta to a state of deep surrender.

It is said that just 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 3 hours sleep. Yoga Nidra is in fact a kind of meditation and practiced on a regular basis has many health benefits including reduction of stress, lowering blood pressure and cholesteroll levels to name but a few.

The class will include some gentle asanas and breathing exercises and then you will be lying down for about an hour – supported by blankets and pillows. This kind of yoga works on a deep spiritual level, so expect to feel peace, surrender, stillness, shift and self awareness.

Jen is a British Wheel of Yoga Level 500 Hours, 4 Diploma Yoga teacher, offering Hatha Yoga classes and workshops, with Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing exercises) and relaxation to balance mind and body. Jen is also trained in teaching Restorative Yoga and a Shiatsu therapist.
