What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary treatment that with regular treatments may help relieve stress, aid relaxation and improve your general state of health. Reflexology may also help to improve the circulation and remove toxins from the body and increase energy. Reflexology works on the principle that the reflex points on the feet and hands correspond to all the different parts of the body.
After a consultation to establish your past and present health and lifestyle, I use a foot massage to warm up the body’s tissues and boost the circulation. Then I will apply pressure to the reflex points using different reflexology techniques to help bring the body and mind back in to balance. This is a fully clothed treatment (apart from your feet), all you need to do is to sit back and relax.
History of Reflexology
The Chinese are said to have used an early form of Reflexology more than 5,000 years ago in their use of pressure therapies. Egyptian tomb artwork also showed foot massage, indicating that working on the feet is an ancient practice, used in many cultures.
Modern Reflexology, where feet are divided into zones corresponding to areas within the body, was developed by Eunice D. Ingram in the 1930’s and is now a popular Complementary Therapy.
How can Reflexology help you?
Reflexology may help sleep problems, stress related symptoms and conditions, fertility issues and hormonal imbalances, pregnancy, back ache, skeletal, digestive, circulatory, sinus problems, headaches and migraines.
Reflexology sessions will be a 60-minute treatment (a course of six is recommended in order to truly reep the rewards).
